On 19 January 2012 the European Animal Welfare Strategy (2011-2015) was adopted by the EU Commission. Better enforcement of existing legislation is one of its essential aspects.
The EU Commission as “Guardian of the Treaties” and the 27 Member States have to provide appropriate and effective systems to enforce EU legislation.
The goal of the conference in Brussels on 12-13 June, which I had the honour of moderating, was to develop solution strategies at the different levels, following defined indicators in relation to diverse enforcement problems.
The results of the conference will be offered to support the implementation of the new Animal Welfare Strategy of the EU and to strengthen enforcement efforts at all levels.
You will find the conference agenda on the CAROdog website.
